Eloping in Alaska

Based in beautiful Southcentral Alaska, some of our favorite locations to elope at are Cooper Landing, Seward and Turnagain Pass. We love adventurous couples who like scenic locations and we are happy to help plan an adventure with you.

 

Traveling to Alaska

When eloping to Alaska we recommend flying into our largest city, Anchorage and getting a rental car. Alaska is the largest state and when looking at a map you will see that small distances are sometimes equal to the distance of traveling across an entire state in the contiguous United States. What to Bring

We recommend bringing a good pair of rain and hiking boots and rain coat. We are sometimes on uneven terrain and wet ground even if it hasn’t been raining.

 

Top Three Favorite Places to Elope In Alaska

Cooper Landing, Alaska

Located approximately two hours south of Anchorage, Cooper Landing is know for it’s stunning mountain views and blue-green waters of Kenai Lake and Kenai River making it my favorite location to elope in Alaska as well as the top picked location by couples. You can use Cooper Landing as your base (and take time to do some rafting with Alaska Rivers Company, do some hiking up to the Russian River Falls and possibly get lucky and see a bear fishing in the waterfall, or many other hikes in the area, as well as fishing) or choose to stay in the Soldotna area where there is more lodging and eating options (a short hour drive from Cooper Landing so you can easily day trip out there and has a lot of activities to do as well). My favorite place to eat at in Soldotna is at Whistle Hill where you can stop by Brew 602 for a coffee and waffle on a vintage train or got out to a nice dinner at Addie Camp. Cooper Landing’s biggest hotel is the Kenai Princess Lodge and offers many vacation rental by owners and bed and breakfast options that you can find through websites like vrbo and airbnb. Seward, Alaska

Located approximately two and a half hours south of Anchorage is a beautiful coastal, seaside town called Seward, Alaska. It is known for it’s oceanside location with sandy and rocky beaches with mountain backgrounds, as well as deep sea fishing, kayaking and glacier fjord trips or hike up to Exit Glacier. Even if you don’t choose to elope here it is a fun town to visit for a few days. There are several lodging options in Seward ranging from hotels, bed and breakfast and vacation rental by owner options, with my personal favorite being Salted Roots Cabins.

 

Turnagain Pass, Alaska

Located approximately an hour south of Anchorage as you are driving through the mountains (you will be at a higher elevation) is Turnagain Pass that always makes me feel like I’m in the movie the Sound of Music. Depending on the time of year there is sometimes seasonal wildflowers as well. One of the closest locations to stay would be Girdwood which makes an excellent base to access many hikes, Portage Glacier center and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation. Girdwood is know for some of the best food in Alaska with the Double Musky and Jack Sprats being some of my favorites. Also known for the beautiful Alyeska Resort and abundance of vacation rentals by owner. Be sure to grab a beer at the Girdwood Brewing Company as well.
